Italy is one of the world's most beloved wedding destinations - and for good reason. Here are the regions where I love to film:
Tuscany: Rolling cypress-lined hills, ancient stone villas, world-class wine, and a landscape so beautiful it barely seems real. Tuscany is the most versatile Italian destination for weddings - intimate or grand, spring through to autumn - and the golden light here is extraordinary to film in. Particularly stunning in late May and September when the light is warm but the heat isn't overwhelming.
Amalfi Coast: Ravello, Positano, Praiano - cliffside villages plunging into glittering blue water, with a drama and romance that is completely unique. Amalfi Coast weddings are visually extraordinary, and the films they produce are among the most breathtaking I've ever made.
Lake Como: Grand, refined, and deeply romantic. Lake Como's combination of mountain drama, mirror-flat water, and palatial villas produces a backdrop that few places on earth can rival. Villa del Balbianello, Villa d'Este, Villa Erba — these are venues of an almost incomparable beauty.
Sicily: Sicily is one of the fastest-growing wedding destinations in Italy - and it is easy to understand why. Ancient Greek temples, baroque hilltop towns, volcanic landscapes, crystal-clear sea, and a warmth and hospitality that is uniquely Sicilian. The scenery is dramatic and completely distinctive.
Puglia: The heel of Italy's boot - trulli houses, olive groves, whitewashed masserie, and a quiet, sun-baked beauty that draws couples looking for something authentic and slightly off the beaten track. Puglia has grown enormously in popularity in recent years and it produces wonderful films.
Lake Garda: Slightly more accessible than Como but equally beautiful - dramatic mountains reflected in Europe's largest lake, with a string of extraordinary venues along the shoreline. A wonderful choice for couples who want the Italian lake wedding experience with more flexibility on dates.
